The Las Vegas officer whose home was raided in connection with the stabbing death of an investigative reporter has repeatedly called him a liar on social media – and had a page on his campaign website dedicated to debunking his stories, like the DailyMail .com can reveal.
Jeff German, 69, a veteran reporter who covered politics and crime for the Las Vegas Review Journal, was found dead outside his home on Saturday morning.
On Wednesday morning, cops stormed the home of Clark County Public Administrator Robert Telles, 45 – a Democrat who failed to win re-election after a series of stories written by German that exposed turmoil in his office, claiming he have an affair with an employee.
Now DailyMail.com can reveal that Telles had railed against Deutsch for months – including in an angry spate of messages on social media, in which he accused him of going through his rubbish and writing “lying swabs” about him.

Jeff German, a reporter for the Las Vegas Review Journal, was found stabbed to death Saturday. German, a crime reporter, was the author of the 2001 true crime book Murder in Sin City: The Death of a Las Vegas Casino Boss, which tells the story of the death of Ted Binion, heir to the Horseshoe Club fortune

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers found journalist Jeff German (left) dead of stab wounds around 10:30 a.m. Saturday after authorities received an 911 call. They have now searched the home of Clark County Public Administrator Robert Telles (right).

Telle’s home will be searched by police on Wednesday

He also had a section on his campaign website called “Truth” that referred to German by name and accused him of conspiring with Rita Reid – his challenger in the Democratic primary for the Clark County public administrator job – to spread false stories about him.
Reid, who won the June 16 election, was among those who complained in German about Telle’s behavior at work – and his alleged affair with fellow worker Roberta Lee-Kennett, 45.
He also accused the pair of conspiring with John Cahill – his predecessor in the role – and claimed the trio tried to “pull me through the mud” for their own benefit.

Las Vegas police were spotted outside the Telles home five days after the investigative reporter was killed outside his home

Colleagues from Review Journal’s German took pictures of Telles washing a car similar to the one police said were being chased as part of the investigation into the reporter’s death the day before the raid on his home

In an angry post on June 19 – three days after losing the primary – Telles wrote: “If Rita doesn’t win, her position will not be vacated.
“Then the employee who wanted her job won’t get it. This person wanted to work in this position for three years in order to receive a much higher monthly payment when they retired.
“Maybe that’s why Jeff German and John Cahill aren’t done trying to drag me through the mud.
“To ensure Democrats rally around Rita, they would have to turn most Democratic voters against me, even now that I’m supposed to be irrelevant.” Don’t be surprised if the articles keep coming.
“Through all of these articles I have had the support of my family and friends.
“Despite everything Jeff German and John Cahill have tried to do to me personally, I have been surrounded by love and support that has helped me continue to fight for re-election. Even though I’ve lost, I still have that love and support.
Telles had also launched a Twitter tirade the day before – accusing German of going through his trash, making a “veiled threat” against him and bullying him.
One post read: “Looking forward to lie smear piece #4 by @JGermanRJ #onetrickpony. I think he’s mad that I didn’t crawl into a hole and die.”
A second added: “Typical bully. Can’t take a pound of criticism after hurling 100 pounds of BS. So far for article #4. You’d think he had better things to do.”
Telles also said he expects to be associated with the mob and yakuza [street gang] after leaving boxes of pizza and sushi in the trash, before adding sarcastically, ‘*Woman hears rustling in trash* She: ‘Honey, is there a wild animal in the trash?’ Me: ‘No, darling. Looks like @JGermanRJ is going through our junk for his fourth story about me. Oh Jeff…’

Telles accused the reporter of writing several “diaphrases” against him after he lost a re-election bid in June

Police released surveillance footage of a person wearing a sun hat and orange jacket near the crime scene
Telles shares a $660,000 four-bedroom home in Las Vegas’s upscale Peccole Ranch neighborhood with his wife Mae Ishmael, 45, and their three young children.
The house was searched by police early Wednesday morning.
Police had previously released footage of a maroon 2007-2013 GMC Yukon Denali that they said was linked to the case.
A similar vehicle shown on the street map of Telles’ home was removed from the property by police along with a gray BMW sedan.
Telles reportedly returned to the property around 2 p.m. and was dressed in a hazmat suit, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.
