A British tech minnow fighting Samsung in a US court is considering further lawsuits in the UK and China.
Manchester-based Nanoco claims the South Korean electronics titan stole its technology and used it in its best-selling QLED TVs. The David and Goliath-style battle will come to a head this month when a lawsuit begins in Texas in which Nanoco argues that Samsung infringed its copyright.
The £141million company, which was spun off from Manchester University, recently launched injunction proceedings in Germany to ban the sale of Samsung QLED TVs.

Nanoco claims it may be owed hundreds of millions of pounds from past and future sales. Samsung denies the allegations.
The London-listed firm is now examining whether it can initiate similar cases in the UK and China. In both countries, going through the same legal process can be more costly and complex.
Chief Executive Brian Tenner said, “We have successfully established the validity of our patents in the US, Samsung’s largest market, so it makes sense that we are actively exploring options in other territories.”
Texas was chosen because it has a “rocket list” that listens to claims and renders judgments much faster than other states. The U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board ruled in favor of Nanoco earlier this year, paving the way for the upcoming trial.
