An emotional Richarlison fought back tears as he celebrated his dream Champions League debut with friends and family at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The £50million Everton summer signing scored his first goals for the club, scoring two late header goals to help Spurs get off to a dream start in the group stage with a 2-0 win over Marseille in north London.
After the final whistle, the Brazilian striker, who was also named man of the match, sought out the players closest to him from the front row in the stadium’s west stand.

The Brazilian striker had fulfilled a lifelong dream with his Champions League debut

There he was greeted by family members who shook his hand and hugged him.
But emotion got the better of the former Toffees Killer as he covered his face to hide his tears with his hand and match shirt before being hugged again by those closest to him.
As Spurs fans nearby chanted the name of the match winner, the striker broke away before being comforted by teammate Ivan Perisic, who offered him brief words of encouragement before the striker headed down the tunnel.
Former England midfielder Owen Hargreaves admitted he can fully understand how emotional Richarlison is, given the long road the 25-year-old has come to reach European club competition.

Sometimes you have to win ugly in the Champions League,” Hargreaves told BT Sport.
‘She [Spurs] didn’t play brilliantly but look what it means for him, for him and his family.
“As a little boy, you dream of getting on this stage and playing in front of this audience, this stadium.
“He worked so hard. There is something special about scoring two goals in your first Champions League game. He was exceptional in the air and tonight we saw that.

Peter Crouch also praised the Brazil international, highlighting how his post reported on a tough night for Spurs, who worked hard for much of the game before walking away with the win.
‘It’s a surprise, him [Richarlison] didn’t play in the Champions League, he’s been good enough for a number of years,” added the former Tottenham striker.
“Now he has the opportunity. He didn’t get his goal at the weekend but he’ll bring that with him. He brings goals. Another goal threat, disappointing night for Tottenham, difficult game for them but the most important thing is the goal line.
Richarlison is now hoping to retain his place in Antonio Conte’s starting XI as they look to defend their seven-game unbeaten run earlier in the season when they face a tough journey to high-flying Manchester City on Saturday.
