The Veronicas’ shock breakup was revealed to be a publicity stunt to promote alcohol brand Vodka Cruiser, and fans aren’t happy.
Band members Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, 37, let the cat out of the bag on Wednesday, just days after they announced their split, by teasing their upcoming solo projects.
“PSA The Veronicas didn’t break up. We are strong together but we can be just as strong alone,” the twins both wrote on Instagram.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday, Jessica assured fans that contrary to their previous announcements, The Veronicas are “absolutely still together.”
“We’re still 100 percent there. We can’t afford to split up The Veronicas just yet. In fact, we have some new Veronicas music that we’re working on that we’re really excited about,” she said.
In a controversial marketing tactic, the pair are fueling Vodka Cruiser’s new campaign, The Solo Project, by releasing songs about “female empowerment and self-pleasure.”

‘Masturbation. We said it then, but we have to talk about it. So we kind of break up. So together with Vodka Cruiser we’re splitting up and writing our own solo songs for the first time ever, to encourage more women and femme people to talk about going solo too,” the sisters said in a promotional video for the collaboration.
Description of the project to Yahoo! Lifestyle told Jessica that faking the band’s breakup was like an empowering “social experiment.”
“What we keep saying is that we are strong together, but we are also strong alone, and the whole spirit of this campaign is that we want to encourage female people to know that they are powerful and that they are capable and entitled are to please themselves without any permission in the world,’ she added.

Lisa’s solo single is called Cruisin’ On My Own, a track that seems to refer to the Vodka Cruiser brand name, and is described as “a love song to itself”.
Jessica, who uses the stage name “Jessica333,” titled her song “Seeing Stars,” which she says refers to “the euphoria you feel in celebrating the feminine.”
The alcoholic beverages giant’s website, meanwhile, explains that The Veronicas’ publicity stunt is to bring “self-pleasure” to the main stage.

The Veronicas’ shock announcement came less than a day after the band mysteriously deleted their official Instagram page and unfollowed everyone.
The twins also posted the same cryptic message in white letters on a black background to their own personal accounts.

Unfortunately, tensions between the sisters caused the band to go on temporary hiatus when Jessica began dating her ex-girlfriend, actress Ruby Rose, in 2017.
It was rumored at the time that Lisa – who is married to actor Logan Huffman – wouldn’t approve of Jessica’s new flame.
The pair did not speak for 18 months, sparking speculation that the band had finally broken up.

They made amends in 2019 after Jessica and Ruby split.
“We as twin sisters have a bond that can’t really be explained to anyone,” Lisa told News Corp of her feud with Lisa.
“We feel it in the deepest parts of who we are, and even in difficult times… I think somewhere we’ve always known that. But we went through a very difficult period of not communicating.
