Superstitious Parramatta fans will have their wish granted as the ‘Lucky Charm’ commentator will announce their final against Penrith – and the Eels have won EVERY time he’s been behind the mic
- Commentator Andrew Voss is a lucky charm for the Parramatta Eels
- The Eels have won all 10 games scheduled by Voss this year
- Voss has been confirmed as commentator for Friday’s game against Penrith
Parramatta fans believe their side’s secret weapon this season is commentator Andrew Voss – and it has been confirmed he will name Friday night’s qualifying final against Penrith.
Incredibly, the Eels have won all 10 games scheduled by Voss this season, so Parramatta fans are looking to him as the talisman who could help them break their 36-year Premier League drought.
The commentator has become such a talisman for the team that he joked that his Foxtel colleague, Panthers legend Greg Alexander, could sabotage his chances of winning the game by poisoning him.

Parramatta fans believe veteran commentator Andrew Voss (pictured) is their lucky charm as their side wins every game he has announced this year. Some have asked Fox Sports that he call Friday night’s game against Penrith – and they have granted their wish

Voss is aware that he’s become “The Eels Whisperer” this season and has no explanation for the bizarre coincidence
Die-hard fans have been begging Fox Sports chief executive Steve Crawley all week to refer Voss for the enticing showdown at Penrith’s BlueBet Stadium.
Eels fanatic Troy Warner wrote: “Attention Mr. Steve Crawley, as a huge Parramatta fan and member, Andrew Voss of your network has bid 10 games this season and the Eels have won them all.
“I request and implore that when you release your list of commentators for this weekend Mr Andrew Voss is the caller on Friday night to keep our winning streak going. He is our lucky charm! Sincerely, Troy from Parra Cave.’

Voss jokes that Panther legend and colleague Greg Alexander may try to poison him
“If you look at the stats, Parramatta is 6-8 without my call and 10-0 with my call. It’s gotten a bit spooky,” Voss said.
“I think I’ve become the Eels Whisperer. I have no explanation for this, none at all. I have no connection whatsoever with Parramatta and never have but I ended up becoming a talisman for them so my apologies to all the other clubs.
“I can confirm there have been no calls from [Eels coach] Brad Arthur asked me to speak to the team before the game. I’m not the 19th man at Parramatta. They didn’t send me a scarf or a coffee mug. I am independent of all blue and gold.

The Panthers have been beaten just four times en route to the Minor Premiership all season and the Eels own two of those wins over Ivan Cleary’s men – winning 22-20 in Round 9 and 34-10 in Round 20
‘Work with [Panthers legend] Gregory Alexander [on SEN] and the Penrith rivalry, he offered to make me a lot of coffee this week. I think he might be trying to spike my drink. I told him he can take the first sip. I don’t trust him.’
Some Eels fans have long believed in Voss’ “powers”.
One Twitter user commented: “I think the stats are about the same for Vossy last year as well. We don’t lose many when you bid our games.’
Another joked: “As long as you don’t name any other games I’d be happy.”
After revealing he would likely name the Eels-Panthers game, Voss said: “Sorry Penrith.”

The Eels would love nothing more than to avenge their loss to the Panthers in last year’s semifinals in a tough encounter
However, not all Penrith supporters are convinced of Voss’ juju in the comment box.
“I think they need more than Vossy to win,” a Panthers fan said on Twitter.
