Albanians arriving in the UK are subject to scrutiny by the security services due to widespread concerns about involvement in organized crime.

Rising figures from the Balkan state “raise the security services’ list of priorities,” a source said.

Data showed that 2,165 Albanians arrived during that period, but the number is said to have risen to 6,000 since early July.

The fast track system will use existing legislation passed by a Labor government in 2002 to treat Albanian asylum claims as “clearly unfounded”.
