A man was shot in the stomach after a police officer stabbed a policeman in the chin.
Police arrived at a River Terrace unit complex in the Brisbane inner-city suburb of Kangaroo Point around 11:30am on Wednesday to carry out a search warrant.
An altercation broke out between police and a 38-year-old resident, after which one officer was allegedly stabbed in the jaw with a 20cm serrated knife.
The man was taken to Princess Alexandria Hospital in critical condition.
The male Senior Constable, in his 40s, was transported to Mater Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A man from another unit is understood to have approached officers from behind after they entered a unit to serve the warrant.
Police tried to taser the man before he was shot in the abdomen by a young female officer after he ignored orders to drop a gun.
‘A shot was fired by a young female officer in uniform. The perpetrator fell to the ground and was immediately disarmed,” said Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham.
Seven officers were eventually involved in the incident after four uniformed officers were the first to arrive at the unit to serve an arrest warrant.
A crime scene has been declared at the site and River Terrace is currently closed between Bell Street and Llewellyn Street and is expected to remain closed for some time.
