The incident happened around 10.20pm Tuesday after the victim, whose name was not given, held the door open for a customer walking into 4th Ave Tobacco Road Corp in Gowanus.
The victim asked the suspect why he hadn’t thanked him and got angry, the New York Post reported.
After an argument outside, the victim hit the customer, who was trying to flee, and was then fatally stabbed in the neck and abdomen.
The victim reportedly taunted the suspect, saying “stab me if you can” before slashing him open.
He fell back into the store entrance bleeding profusely and according to store clerk Kharef Alsaidi yelled, “He stabbed me, he stabbed me.”
The victim was taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead.

Speaking to ABC7, Alsaidi explained how events unfolded: “It was just about not saying ‘thank you’ for opening the door for him.
He said the victim asked, “Why don’t you say thank you for opening the door?”
This led to the suspect saying he did not ask the victim to open the door for him.
The clerk said he tried to de-escalate the issue and get the suspect to put the knife away, but it didn’t work.
