No. 8 seed Jessica Pegula was defeated by No. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland in the quarterfinals of the US Open on Wednesday night.
Pegula – the last American in women’s singles – was beaten in straight sets 6-3, 7-6.
Swiatek now plays number 6 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals, while Caroline Garcia and Ons Jabeur face the other side of the draw.
