The 53-year-old blonde actress beamed in a green skirt suit that made the most of her toned legs as she headed to the Today Show in New York City to wrap up her one-night stage show.

While sitting down with Hoda Kotb, the siren confirmed that Deadline says she has not yet been asked to work on the Ally McBeal sequel, which is in early development at ABC.

All Jane knows about the sequel is what she’s read in the papers, she said, adding that she thinks she’s read that Flockhart was involved.

“I’m excited to see what they make of it,” she said of saying she’s excited for the new series.

And she added that she will forever be “grateful” to the hit show for launching her television career.

Jane also joked about clips flashing in the background that her hair is still as curly as Ally McBeal’s, but she’s glad she’s getting “blow dryers” now, she laughed.

Deadline reported in August that Flockhart may have been approached to work on the series.

But the star of the sequel won’t be Calista. The main role is played by a young black woman who has just graduated from law school. She joins the law firm from the original series.

The woman is believed to be the daughter of Ally McBeal’s (Flockhart) DA roommate Renée Raddick, played by Lisa Nicole Carson

Ally McBeal followed an overly imaginative lawyer as she navigated the ups and downs of her personal and professional life.

The show ran for five seasons through 2002 and starred Vonda Shepard, Portia de Rossi, Lucy Liu, Courtney Thorne Smith and Gil Bellows, among others.

The show’s creator, David E. Kelley, has previously mentioned his support for a McBeal reboot, but he’s pushed for a woman to be the primary creative force behind the new iteration.

She also spoke to Hoda about her new stage performance in Seth Rudetsky’s Broadway, which will debut on Sunday.

“We sit and chat and tell stories, stories you don’t know, and then we sing songs, but we’re going to do about 30 rock songs, Tina Fey is writing me some songs, it’s going to be great material,” she shared.

And Jane said she loves cruising around NYC on a Vespa these days.

“COVID happened and we all wanted one-on-one transport,” she said. And she admitted she moves between cars.

As for her son, he is now in middle school – 6th grade – and will be going back to school on Thursday.

“He’s in 6th grade, he’s in a jazz band and he wants to be a musician,” she shared. He also wants to go back to school to “socialize,” she added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Jane said she was a big Lizzo fan and knew her music.

“I’m too fabulous to be so stressed out,” said Jane, quoting a Lizzo song. She added it’s her motto.

The star later said she was very “awkward” at school. She started acting in front of the camera when she was 12 and the kids didn’t think she was “cool”.

“I was different from the other schools, but back then you wanted to be more normal,” she remarked.
