Jack Daniel’s whiskey maker Brown-Forman is seeing sales rebound as consumers return duty-free at bars, restaurants and airports
Sales of Jack Daniel’s whiskey maker Brown-Forman soared as consumers returned after the easing of Covid restrictions at airport bars, restaurants and duty-free shops.
The US distillery, which also makes Woodford Reserve Bourbon and Fords Gin, posted sales of £860m in the three months to July 31, up from £780m in the same period last year. That exceeded analysts’ expectations.
Brown-Forman’s travel retail unit, which includes duty-free sales, posted year-over-year growth of 77 percent as travel increased.

“While the market remains uncertain, I remain optimistic that we can continue this momentum and achieve both short- and long-term growth goals,” said Chief Executive Lawson Whiting.
The company posted quarterly net income of $214 million (£184 million), up from $165 million (£142 million) a year earlier.
Last month, Brown-Forman announced it would invest more than £30m in its GlenDronach distillery in Aberdeenshire, more than doubling its capacity to meet growing global demand.
