Nate Diaz says he never asked to fight Khamzat Chimaev and insists he has no interest in facing the Swedish welterweight in the main event of UFC 279.
Diaz will face Chimaev in Las Vegas on September 10th before retiring from the production once his contract expires.
Diaz – who is nine years Chimaev’s senior – insists the pressure is on the undefeated star and insists he is doing UFC a favor by taking the fight.

Speaking to ESPN, Diaz said: “They act like I demanded this fight, which I didn’t demand and didn’t want and didn’t want and still don’t want.

The 37-year-old will fight the final fight of his UFC deal against Chimaev of Russia
Many fans believe that the UFC intentionally compared Diaz to the undefeated Chimaev due to his ongoing feud with Dana White.
The 37-year-old fighter urged White to “hold him hostage” after announcing his desire to withdraw from production.
Diaz said White is refusing to arrange the final fight of his deal to prevent him from leaving UFC.

However, they have praised the 37-year-old for agreeing to step into the Octagon to take on rising star Chimaev.
