Chelsea striker Hakim Ziyech has been heavily criticized by fans after a poor performance in Tuesday’s shock defeat by Dinamo Zagreb.
Blues fans took to Twitter to vent their anger at the Moroccan international’s performance after he was unveiled as Cesar Azpilicueta’s replacement at half-time.
But he failed to make a positive impact as the west London side suffered a 1-0 defeat as the 29-year-old was wasteful and largely ineffective for much of the second half.

Hakim Ziyech was slammed by Chelsea fans on Twitter after his appearance at Dinamo Zagreb
Chelsea fans on Twitter were quick to criticize his performance, claiming it is one of the worst performances by a Blues player to come off the bench.
One user wrote: “One of the worst cameos in football history from Ziyech.”
Another added: “Ziyech with possibly one of the worst performances ever seen from a #Chelsea player. The rest of his teammates just behind #UCL.’

And a third drew comparisons to infamous Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko, who was shown two yellow cards in 30 minutes against Watford in 2018, writing: “CONGRATULATIONS HAKIM ZIYECH.
“They took the award for worst cameo in the club’s history from Bakayoko vs. Watford.”
After Thomas Tuchel decided he’d seen enough in a poor first half, he made the move to put the offense forward for one of his three central defenders to switch to a back four at Azpilicueta.
However, the move was ultimately unsuccessful and Ziyech’s contribution was one of missed chances and poor free-kicks as Chelsea failed to make up their deficit while Zagreb sealed a rare and memorable European victory.
Late in the game, with Chelsea pushing for an equalizer, Ziyech insisted he execute a free-kick in a promising area in place of regular set pieces Reece James and Mason Mount.
His shot failed to hit the wall and when Zagreb’s determined and brave defense missed a second free-kick in almost exactly the same position, Ziyech scored almost exactly the same result, missing a good opportunity for the Blues.

In the closing stages of the second half, Ziyech hit two identical free-kicks into Zagreb’s wall
Ziyech’s future at Chelsea has been unclear as the club appeared prepared for him to leave while Ajax, Manchester United and AC Milan move through the summer transfer window.
Some fans have clearly lost patience with the Morocco international, with one supporter writing: “Ziyech should not be allowed back into the training ground. The most arrogant bighead I’ve ever seen.”
And a recent Twitter user summed up the performance by simply saying, “That Ziyech disaster class…”
