A truck driver has been hailed as a hero after he ran into a burning car on a motorway and rescued the 80-year-old driver.
Woodchopper Gary Jones was driving through Yatala on the Gold Coast on the M1 last week when he spotted the burning car.
After stopping his truck, Mr. Jones called the older man out.
But the 80-year-old was frozen in fear and could not move.
Mr Jones, who also works as a volunteer firefighter, knew what to do and dragged the man out of the car.

“When he was in the car, both sides of him were on fire, the upholstery just went up – bang,” Mr Jones said.
“I opened the door, grabbed the driver, pulled him out – he almost got run over… an 80-year-old isn’t agile, that’s for sure.”
Firefighters and police arrived to douse the flames and direct traffic while Mr Jones left the scene.
The driver of the burning vehicle was not injured and was hospitalized for shock.
