The girlfriend of a Miami police officer found shot dead at his home has been arrested.
Tiniko Thompson, 46, allegedly killed her boyfriend Carl Patrick, 53, at his home in Pembroke Pines, Fla. on May 9.
Police found a chilling note with the body. to read: “It was an accident, we had a fight.”
Mr Patricks’ body was found in his bedroom under burnt bedding earlier this month, officials said.
They described the scene as “consistent with something being set on fire” and revealed he was still wearing his police uniform.
Mr Patrick’s former girlfriend, Ms Thompson, has been arrested in connection with the murder, police say.
she appeared in court for the first time Thursday on Second-degree murder charges.
Ms Thompson is said to have killed Mr Patrick and left him at home to die while he fled the scene, stole his mobile phone and fled.

Patrick’s body was discovered at his home in Pembroke Pines.

When Ms Thompson was brought in for questioning after his death, she told officers he shot himself.
She described how they fought when his gun went off.
“It went POW! And that was it,” she recalled of the single shot that ended his life.
“He called me Ab****. He said, ‘You b****.’
She went on to say that the 25-year-old Miami police veteran treated her “abusively.”
She tearfully told NBC News: “He scared me. I don’t know what else to say.”

However, it is not clear how Mr. Patrick would have been able to shoot himself.
The coroner determined that the gunshot wound was inconsistent with how he would have shot himself with a gun, as he would have used his right hand to fire the gun.
Ms Thompson said she left the scene and lived in her car for the next few days.
However, police said they found another note in her vehicle, similar to the one in the kitchen, saying she was too scared to call the police after the incident.
According to a coroner, Mr Patrick’s life could have been saved if he had received immediate medical attention.
His death was ruled a murder (manslaughter).
