Horror in the heart of Melbourne as at least three injured and terrified Witnesses run for their lives in a ferocious knife fight
- A man and a woman were stabbed to death in central Melbourne on Thursday
A man and a woman were stabbed in the middle of Melbourne on Thursday evening.
In the harrowing 5pm attack, police said a woman stabbed a man on Flinders Street in Melbourne’s CBD.
The same woman then stabbed another woman further down Flinders Street before police pounced on the suspect and arrested her not far from the victims.
Both the stabbed man and woman were taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The man was stabbed at the junction of Downie Street and the high street, Flinders Street, before the alleged assailant sank the gun into another woman just 50 yards down the road on the corner of Spencer Street.
Swarms of people subsequently gathered along Flinders Street as police and ambulances entered the street, past the diverted rush hour traffic.
“Southbound lanes closed between Collins Street and Flinders Street due to police incident. Please consider using King Street instead and follow the instructions of the emergency services,” Victoria Traffic tweeted as Victorian police officers identified crime scenes.
The police have not yet been able to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and are continuing to investigate.
