They may be mother and daughter, but Australian music veterans Marcia and Deni Hines aren’t playing happy families anymore.
Deni, 51, was taking part in a live Q&A session on TikTok when she snapped at a fan who asked about her 68-year-old mother amid rumors of a bitter family feud.
During the chat, the singer also revealed that she now lives in Asia and has no plans to return to Sydney due to skyrocketing inflation and the cost of living in Australia.

“I have no intention of returning to Sydney unless I’m going to make money. i want to live my life I want to enjoy my life,” she told Daily Mail Australia during the live Q&A.
“I don’t want to bust my ass to pay off a mortgage or fight,” Deni explained.
“I like to eat organic. I like eating good food. I don’t buy crappy food. Well, that’s expensive. That’s really expensive.”
Things then took a turn when a fan asked Deni, who lives in Bangkok with her husband Daniel Moses, how she was doing leaving her mother behind in Australia.

“What about my mother? Somebody help me out of here before I fucking turn around,” she snapped before taking a moment to catch her breath.
“There are things you just don’t ask me as a 51-year-old woman.
“Don’t fucking ask me about my mother because you don’t care and you don’t know her. She’s not your mother and you don’t really care.”
She then quoted Will Smith’s famous line after he beat Chris Rock at the Oscars as she said, “Keep my mother’s name out of your friggin’ mouth.”

Woman’s Day reported last year that Deni and her mom had “big fights” and she confided in her Dancing With The Stars castmates about her chasm.
“There’s been underlying tension between them for a long time, but that’s quite common in many mother-daughter relationships,” an insider told the magazine.
“Deni has never liked Marcia’s contribution to her career and that always weighs on things.”
While fans may be shocked to learn of the family feud, rifts appeared in 2019 when Marcia revealed she hadn’t seen her daughter’s performance on The Masked Singer (pictured).
While fans may be shocked to learn of the family feud, cracks appeared in 2019 when Marcia revealed she hadn’t seen her daughter perform on The Masked Singer.
Marcia said she had no idea Deni would be appearing on the Channel 10 show, nor does she plan to watch her perform because reality TV is “not my thing” – despite serving as a judge between 2003 and 2009 Australian Idol performed.
The mother and daughter haven’t posted much about each other on Instagram since their trip to Thailand in 2018.
Marcia said: “I don’t watch reality TV. not my thing I didn’t know she was in because she wasn’t allowed to tell me she was in, it was part of the contract. (picture 2019)
A representative for Marcia told Daily Mail Australia he was not aware of any feud.
“I spoke to Marcia who has absolutely no idea of any issues between her and Deni and to my knowledge they speak regularly and lovingly to each other, especially since Deni has been living in Bangkok for some time,” the rep said.
“Sorry we are unable to provide any further information on this matter, but obviously it would be best to speak to Deni for more clarity.”
