Daniel Ricciardo appeared at a press conference ahead of this weekend’s Monza Grand Prix with a “ridiculous” tattoo of McLaren team-mate Lando Norris’ face on the back of his neck.
Ricciardo has had a difficult season in Formula 1, collecting just 13 points from 15 races and last month it was announced he would be leaving McLaren at the end of the season. He is replaced by fellow Australian Oscar Piastri.
Despite his problems on track, Ricciardo was in good spirits at Monza and it wasn’t long before he realized he had a surprise tattoo on his neck. When asked why he got Norris’ face tattoo, Ricciardo burst out laughing as he struggled to explain his decision.

Norris proudly showed off his neck to reporters but admitted the tattoo looked “ridiculous.”
Ricciardo was in good spirits as he sat alongside seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton
‘That’s ridiculous! I have Lando’s face on my neck,” he told reporters.
“Anyway, we did a little thing with the team this morning. He (Norris’ face in the tattoo) looks sunburned! He (Norris) has a few up his sleeve too. You’ll see later, I’m sure.”
Ricciardo’s comments seem to suggest he and Norris are on good terms after the Brit denied there was a rift between the two earlier this week.
Norris had admitted he was “not surprised” that Ricciardo had been dropped from McLaren as he seemed to show little sympathy for his teammate’s loss of form.
“I don’t have any digs or anything, but when you look at the results, if you want two people to be on the same level, then don’t be surprised,” Norris said of McLaren’s decision to move away from Ricciardo.

“People are probably going to hate saying that, but it’s difficult because I never know if I’ll experience that in the future with this car or with another team or whatever, so I never want to contradict myself if I’m going to the future but I’ve done it I just need to focus on my driving.
However, he later clarified his comments by insisting there was no tension between him and Ricciardo.
“I want to be friends with as many people as possible, much like I am with Daniel now. We get along very well.
“For some reason people think differently, but that’s completely wrong.
“We have a lot of fun together, we spend a lot of time together. But things are just different, probably because he’s a bit older and interested in other things,” he added.
