DAN WOOTTON: Meghan is kicking off her delusional bid to end up in the White House early

I’ve never forgotten a conversation I had with one of Meghan’s increasingly frustrated close aides in early 2019, as her relationships within the royal family became increasingly toxic.

“I am now convinced that there is something bigger going on here – an eventual plan which is to run for office in America,” the courtier confided, in a moment of frustration at claims of increasingly uncontrollable behavior by their employer .

They added: “She’s obsessed with US politics. I think we (the royal family) are now just a stepping stone to something that they consider much more important and attractive.

As I spoke to many more people close to the Duchess of Woke over the next three years, both in the UK and the US, I have no doubt that she sees herself as an important political figure of the future.

After all, what’s greater than being a princess in the British royal family? Become the first female President of the United States, of course!

I’ll admit that such megalomania is unlikely to result in the most self-obsessed woman in Hollywood (and that’s saying something) becoming the leader of the free world, but that doesn’t mean Meghan won’t do whatever it takes to try it there.

This week, we’ve seen two major steps that appear to be part of her journey toward her ultimate goal of getting into the White House.

Meghan’s Vogue interview with famed feminist Gloria Steinem, who protested the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and said she would march to Washington DC, was just the first of many political interventions that become much more regular as she tries to create an awakened base within the US Democratic Party.

But even more significant was Buckingham Palace’s unscrupulous decision to bury the results of an inquiry into the Duchess’ alleged bullying of her staff during her unhappy years as working queen, she claims she has denied.

Such a move will please Prince Harry, whose already acrimonious relationship with his relatives threatened to be ruined forever if any damaging details of the investigation by a Queen-funded independent law firm were revealed in yesterday’s Sovereign Grant Report.

Meghan’s political future could have been torpedoed before it began if her carefully crafted image as a compassionate woman of the people was exposed as a farce by her offended former staffers, whose stories of their time with the Duchess are in some cases very concerning.

Meghan told Oprah Winfrey that she was “silenced” by the royal machine in that famous interview that has many debunked.

But ironically, it’s actually their ex-employees who suffered that fate, thanks to the gag orders they supposedly signed before they started working for the Sussexes.

Surely when Meghan enters the political sphere, the people who claim to have been mistreated by her have a right to be heard?

That’s why Buckingham Palace is forced to release the results of the inquiry into their alleged staff bullying.

I’m afraid senior royals have put family relationships above the moral right by forever keeping the report secret and refusing to describe in any detail what processes and policies have changed as a result of the complaints against Meghan.

While Harry or Meghan are not lost on either senior royals or courtiers, who I recently revealed view the couple as greater pariahs than the disgraced Prince Andrew, they are aware of the damage the couple could do with a long could bring publicity to the monarchy campaign suggesting they have been discriminated against.

With Harry and Meghan escaping any harm from the report, they can now step up their political campaigns in the US, helped by the content they produce for Netflix and Spotify.

Not to mention the liberal media organizations in the tank for Meghan, like Vogue, which absurdly profiled the former Suits actress-turned-duchess as “a vocal advocate of paid furlough and fair labor rights for women.”

The Sussexes’ own company, Archewell, even provided Vogue with a black-and-white photo of a makeup-free Meghan looking concerned as she sits barefoot on a couch, her hair tied back, a computer on her lap and a cell phone in hand.

It’s the kind of photo designed to move Meghan’s carefully constructed image away from a privileged ruler with staff to cater to her every whim, to a humble activist seated at Gloria Steinem’s farmhouse table in the dining room and voters throughout of the lockdown before the last election cold calls.

Meghan recalled “The [presidential] Elections were coming up and we both knew how important it is for women and everyone to vote. The ripple effect of elections is so important and sadly we are seeing that now.’

As you can see from this quote, the interview itself represents a significant step up in Meghan’s political rhetoric, jettisoning any claims to royal neutrality and moving closer to formal Democrat support.

Referring to Roe vs Wade, she added: “We have to put that fear into action. We can start this November in the midterms. I know this feels so repetitive, but we have to vote every time, from local elections to state and national elections.

Meghan’s emasculation of Harry – her fantasy future first dude – also proceeded at a brisk pace.

She said: “Men need to be vocal in this moment and beyond because these are decisions that affect relationships, families and communities at large. They may target women, but the consequences affect us all. My husband and I have talked a lot about this over the past few days. He’s also a feminist.’

And in a post-Megxit mission statement, Meghan even pledged that she and Steinman will “soon be traveling to DC together” to campaign for equality change.

She explained: “To be at home, to see what’s happening in our country and to feel full of energy and motivation, if this is the kind of legislation that we need to push through then this is a moment I absolutely have to show up for will. Not just because it’s what we need as women, but what we need as human beings.”

That almost sounds like a future campaign ad for the 2032 Democratic primary.

Meghan is betting on the fact that in a decade the rest of the US would have caught up with the delusional virtue that signals California’s woke politics.

The woman has no idea about Central America or the Rust Belt or how to approach independents.

But she has star power, which will at least get her a heck of a lot of publicity.

The only thing that is certain is that Meghan Markle, as the world’s most high-profile political activist for the Democrats, will cause the British royal family even more headaches – and she doesn’t care at all.
