While Tuchel’s departure was announced this morning after Tuesday night’s surprising 1-0 Champions League defeat by Dinamo Zagreb, the decision had already been made.
The new hierarchy is now in effect 100 days after the club was bought from Roman Abramovich and concerns about the direction of travel have been raised for a number of weeks.

The decision then came to sack Tuchel, who had extended his contract with Chelsea by two years after guiding them to Champions League glory in 2021.
Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League and have made a miserable start to the Champions League, with Tuchel disposed of hours after the humiliating 1-0 defeat in Croatia, his 100th game in charge.

Tuchel leaves Chelsea after leading Chelsea to UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup glory.
Tuchel joined Stamford Bridge in 2021 to replace Frank Lampard and started by winning the Champions League in six months.
Last season, Chelsea reached the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals only to lose to Liverpool on both occasions. They also finished third in the Premier League.
