Charlize Theron has taken her fame seriously when she claims she’s never reached Kim Kardashian’s level in a candid interview.
The 47-year-old Oscar winner addressed several issues, including her current star power, as she stars on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar’s The Process Issue.
As Charlize has taken a more active role behind the camera as a producer, she was asked if stepping away from the spotlight was an active move.

Open book: Charlize Theron touched on several issues, including her current star power, when she appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar’s The Process Issue
The actress said openly and honestly, “I feel like I’m in a place for what it is.
“I don’t think working more will change my profile. It was just always a mediocre ride. I’ve never been one of those Kim Kardashian-level people. But I feel like it was just always this thing.’
Charlize didn’t pull any punches when she said she believes her star power has less validity now than it did before.

“I hit shit all day and people say, ‘No thanks'”: Charlize didn’t pull any punches when she said she believes her star power has less validity now than it did before
She explained, “I’ll say, it used to be that you want some of that fame so you can do the shit that you really want to do.
“But now it’s like, I do shit all day and people say, ‘No thanks.’ I’m like, “I think that’s out of cash in the bank.” And that is nice. It’s nice that you make things based on how good they are, as opposed to that idea of, “Oh, you are this thing, and we want to be in business with this thing.”
Working less time has its perks, however, as she can spend more time with her daughters: 10-year-old Jackson and 8-year-old August.

Charlize said her kids are starting to take notice of her fame, as she said, “Her friends are asking things like, ‘Is your mom in a Marvel movie?’
She went on to say that sometimes they see her featured in Dior fragrance ads as they walk through the airport, which often leads to an illicit reaction.
The A-list actress explained: “They’re going to act like they’re so embarrassed. They’ll say, “Oh God. Don’t look, Mom. There’s a huge picture of you.”

However, being a world-famous actress doesn’t mean much to her children, but rather the simpler things.
Charlize said: “When my kids say, ‘Mom, nobody makes pasta better than you,’ nothing comes close. I never need her to say, “Oh, you’re in this movie.”
“I still hold such a grudge that there is a mom in our circle who makes French toast that my kid raves about. And she gave me the recipe and I tried it. And every time I do it, my kid says, “No, Aunt Nicole’s is better.” And I’m like, motherf***er. I’m a lot more driven by this stuff.’
