Brazilian, 19, ‘gives birth to twins with DIFFERENT fathers after having sex with two men on the same day’

A Brazilian woman has claimed to have given birth to twins with different fathers after having sex with two men on the same day.
The anonymous 19-year-old from Minerios in Goias, Brazil, explained that she took a paternity test because she wanted to confirm who the father was.
She decided to take the test because after eight months she had doubts about who the father was.
The 19-year-old collected DNA from the person she believed to be the father, but after two tests, the results were only positive for one of the twins.
She then recalled having sex with another man that same day, and when that second person took a test it was revealed that he was the father of the second twin.

The phenomenon is scientifically known as heteroparental super-fertilization.
Speaking to Globo, her doctor, Tulio Jorge Franco, explained: “It can happen that two eggs from the same mother are fertilized by different men. The babies share the mother’s genetic material, but they grow up in different placentas.”
He stressed that the case is extremely rare and a “one in a million” situation and he doesn’t think he’ll see one like it in his lifetime.
It has been claimed that there are only about 20 other cases in the world where this has happened.
Local media reported that the children are now 16 months old, but Dr. Franco only spoke about the case this week.
And now one of the fathers takes care of both children and supports their mother.

CAN TWINS HAVE DIFFERENT FATHERS?
Having twins with different fathers is an extremely rare event known as heteropaternal superfertilization. Previous studies suggested that the odds of this happening could be anywhere from 1 in 400 couples to 1 in 13,000 couples (stock photo).
It may sound impossible, but the birth of twins from different fathers is an extremely rare event known as heteropaternal super-fertilization.
Cases usually only come to light when suspicious relatives request a DNA test of a newborn.
However, a study suggests that one in 400 twin births in the US may be affected by heteropaternal superfertilization.
Heteropaternal super-fertilization occurs when a mother releases two eggs, which are then fertilized by two sperm from different men.
Women usually have to have sex with two different men within a day before or after ovulation in order for both eggs to be fertilized.
Although heteropaternal superfertilization is rare in humans, it is relatively common in other animals, including dogs, cats, cows, and rodents.
In species where females have multiple mates, some males have even developed strategies to ensure their sperm reach the egg.
This can include developing penises that damage the female’s reproductive tract and prevent subsequent mating, as seen in dragonflies.
