BBC interrupts Bargain Hunt before calling off show for Queen announcement

Bargain Hunt viewers were left wondering if the red or blue team had won after the show suddenly switched to BBC News for an announcement about the Queen.
The program was “interrupted” to inform viewers that “doctors are concerned” about Her Majesty’s health, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace on Thursday afternoon.
The popular daytime programme, which sees two teams awarded £300 to scout for the best bargains on sale, ended just before 12.40pm on Thursday.

One person said: “Granddad was so mad they stopped the bargain hunting lol”.
Another wrote: “I understand the Queen is ill but they could have waited 20 minutes for the announcement, #BargainHunt paused”.
Meanwhile, a third added: “Bargain hunting has just been put on hold to let us know the Queen is down, then you know it’s serious.”
And a fourth person said: “Look I’m sad the Queen is under medical supervision but can you please resume bargain hunting.”
The popular daytime programme, which sees two teams each awarded £300 to scout for the best bargains on sale, was shut down just before 12.40pm on Thursday.
With twenty minutes left on the 1am news, viewers watched as one of the Bargain Hunt presenters held an umbrella over his head and joked about “the rain and the humidity” before it suddenly went to a black screen.
BBC News presenter Joanna Gosling then appeared to break the news.

She said: “Welcome to BBC One viewers.
“We have had news from Buckingham Palace that the Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral.
“The doctors are worried about her health and she is now under the supervision of doctors.
“It is understood she is well and immediate family members have been informed.”
On Thursday, Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “Following further examinations this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended that she remain under medical supervision.
‘The Queen stays comfortable and on Balmoral.’
Asked about Bargain Hunt’s sudden move, the BBC said: “We have no comment on it.”
