Andy Robertson admitted Liverpool “deserved” to be beaten by Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Reds defender beat his lackluster performance in the 4-1 defeat and warned his team-mates they need to “wake up” as their disappointing start to the season continued in Napoli.
A brace from Piotr Zielinski and goals from Andre-Franck Zambo Anguissa and Giovanni Simeone rounded off an impressive victory, with Luis Diaz scoring the consolation goal for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Andy Robertson admitted Liverpool “deserved” to be beaten by Napoli on Wednesday night
“We were miles too open. You can’t come to a place like this and be that open,” he told BT Sport.
“We had chances in the game, they had chances. They were the better team by miles but when you miss a challenge you need someone to back them up and too often they turned and ran out and went behind and caused problems for our two centre-backs whether it was 2-on-2 was or sometimes 3 against 2s.
“If you get away in a Champions League game you can’t be that open and you have to go back to basics, you have to be compact. We created chances tonight but we deserved that result tonight and they found so many spaces in the first half it was like they had an extra man and it’s not like us.

“You know the crowd is going to get up and you have to be ready to fight and I don’t think we were close enough to our mate when they wanted to press the ball. I don’t think we were fast enough. And if you do, you will be picked up like we did.
“We were beaten 4-1 and we deserved it. We need to wake up, and fast, because we can’t perform like this.
